In today’s world, there are an enormous amount of issues with this county ranging from small city violence, all the way to large government issues. For instance, in Pennsylvania in the year 2011 a large natural gas pipe sprung a leak, this causing thousands of chemical contaminated water over containment berms. From doing so, the contaminated water then ended up heading toward a popular trout fishing creek. It made seven families have to evacuate their homes. Therefore, fracking comes out to be one of these larger known issues in this world today.

Fracking is happening all around the United states today and some people don’t even know it is even occurring so close to their homes. Yale Climate Connections says, “More than 15 million Americans have had a fracking operation within a mile of their home.” For those 15 million people, they are able to be easily affected from such operations. With the harmful chemical, they are pumping into the ground and the cracks they are creating in the earth it is creating an easy access point into people’s wells. Contaminating peoples drinking source is another large issue that has been occurring with these operations. Climate Connections stated that, “There have been numerous reports by citizens across the country of fouled tap water; it is a fact that some of the tap water has even turned bubbly and flammable, as a result of increased methane.” This one chemical destroys peoples drinking source, water is a necessity for about every person in the world. For instance, the use of natural gas has generated many widespread health benefits, like generating less harmful air particles. Compared to the different resources such as, coal which produces many harmful air particles affecting people’s health. Climate Connections says, “The major new supply of natural gas produced through fracking is displacing the burning of coal, which each year contributes to the early death of thousands of people. Coal made up about 50 percent of U.S. electricity generation in 2008, 37 percent by 2012; meanwhile, natural gas went from about 20 percent to about 30 percent during that same period” in addition, in todays world, creating jobs is a huge thing that the world needs. Therefore, with fracking being a larger operation, it has generated plenty of jobs for individuals. Green Garge states, “In 2012, the oil and gas industry in America employed more than 1.2 million people, which further increased due to fracking. The figures will soon double or triple considering that bans on fracking are now being lifted.” With that many jobs it has created a positive impact on the US economy.
