“In 2009, the American Academy of Environmental Medicine indicated serious health risks associated with Genetically Modified foods,” (Wallace). Even though biotechnology its the science to improve agricultural processes, some Genetically Modified foods are lethal. Hormones in Genetically Modified foods can lead to consequential outcomes, such as organ failure and cancer. “One type of Genetically engineered brand, L-tryptophon, killed more than 30 Americans, and left 1,500 others in detrimental conditions,” (Cohen). Genetically Modified foods are not safe. First, one of the biggest issues with Genetically Modified food is selective breeding. Selective breeding is the process of making and crossing DNA. The techniques can be used with plants, animals, and microorganisms. The science of selective breeding is said to be lurching forward far too fast. Scientists do not take precautions or use adequate studies.
Lack of government regulation in factories heightens concerns as to what we are actually consuming. While crossing over genes during selective breeding, the DNA is

“Biotechnology is the science devoted to developing and improving biological, industrial, and agricultural processes,” (Levine). Companies haphazardly create and develop what is most beneficial for them with inadequate regard for the people consuming as well as purchasing their product. The companies want to trick their customers by saying Genetically Modified foods are indeed the most in depth and detailed food, but that is not true. While mass production is cheaper, paying for organic and safe food is worth the price. Biotechnology, along with selective breeding is very unsafe as well as misleading for the public. FDA agents have been asked to not label Genetically Modified foods because of processes like biotechnology which is one of the hundreds of huge health risks caused by Genetically Modified
