The issue of gun rights is an everyday issue that can be argued with support either way. one of the main problems is that we as Americans have been given certain rights through the first ten amendments that are interpreted different on a daily basis. However, the Supreme Court has a history of making rulings after what the Constitution says word for word. And even though they are shadowed out by the popularized shootings and other such events there are actually news articles that aid in the support of the second amendment. The Constitution, written 1787 and ratified 1788, was built as the basic foundation of our country. This skepticism is not well accompanied by the number of shootings that seem to happen on a regular basis. Some people seem to think that the solution is an “assault” weapon ban. An assault weapon can vary but usually denotes a semiautomatic firing system, detachable magazine, and a military feature such as a pistol grip. This is actually a very broad range of firearms, and is not an ideological solution to today’s problems. The issue with banning weapons is that the “bad guys” will still end up with them, and now we as the citizens-the ones with the inalienable right to self-defense-are at a total disadvantage if we are to end up in a confrontation with an intruder or other criminal who possesses such firearms. “...mass shootings will keep on happening. Even assault weapons ban supporters agree with that; many mass shooters already use guns other than assault weapons, and even those who prefer those weapons will either keep getting them or will switch to other, comparably deadly, weapons,” but still there are pro gun ban people that insist this is the fix (Volokh E. 2015). Another issue firearm enthusiasts have is that anti-gun politicians are seeking to get a firearm ban started so that it sets a precedent for more firearm bans “some supporters of gun bans have argued in favor of assault weapons bans precisely because they can help lead to broader bans (such as bans on handguns)” (Volokh E. 2015). This is leading to an eventual complete infringement of the second amendment and our right to
