Passing gun control legislation that creates a universal background check and gun database system as well as passing mental health legislation that improves the health care system’s protocols and policies for assisting people with mental health disorders and that enacts counseling programs in communities and schools will decrease the likelihood of mass shootings in schools. The United States is bitterly divided. Issues of great concern, such as the rise of mass shootings, are partisanized. Both sides of the debate will not comprise or listen to what their opponents have to say. Groups from both sides can only agree that one innocent life taken from gun violence is one too many.
The law is never something to take lightly especially when the specific law is set in place to prevent the loss of human life. Gun control laws have a basis set by the federal government and are expanded upon by each individual state as they deem fit. Federal gun laws and state gun laws have their similarities and differences, but both are set in place as a barrier of protection against those who could cause bodily harm to others if equipped with such power that a gun holds. The U.S federal Government has its own set of regulations concerning firearms and the state of California builds upon them to create a stronger gun policy, meaning both sets of codes and regulations have similarities and differences, but no matter the differences, these laws are set in place to prevent massacres like the Las Vegas, Nevada shooting, and while California gun laws are built upon federal laws, they can be improved for a safer more controlled environment. Stricter Gun Control Laws: A Safer Society The debate over gun control has been a longstanding issue in the United States. With the rising number of mass shootings and gun violence, stricter gun control laws have become a topic of discussion. The question remains, would stricter gun control laws be better for society? This essay will argue that stricter gun control laws would indeed be better for society.
1st Amendment: The First Amendment of the United States Constitution states that “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridg-ing the freedom of speech, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.” In short, this amendment prohibits the establishment of a state religion, protects freedom of the press and speech, and protects the right to assemble and petition the government. The establishment clause enforces the separation of church and state and prohibits the government from restricting a citizen’s religious practices and forbids the government from forcing religion onto its citizens.
Gun control By conner clark Did you know that americans have more guns than anyone else on earth and that more than 30,000 americans die each year to firearms. Well that is what these two articles are teaching us that america does not have a lot of gun laws for guns and how people show more animosity towards gun laws after all of the shootings. These two articles are similar but yet are still really different.
Criminals don’t follow laws. Gun control laws are more oppressive on citizens than criminals, which is literally someone who has broken, or is breaking, a law. Why are some gun control laws and rulings so heavily pushed? Especially considering that the majority of these laws have very little actual basis aside from the “guns are scary and bad” train of thought. This is going to be going into why most of these laws, current, and proposed, make no sense such as the Magazine Capacity bans that some states are putting in place, the entirety of the National Firearms Act of 1934 (NFA), and the 1994 Assault Weapon Ban(AWB).
According to the Unites States Constitution, “A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.”. Gun control is a hotly debated issue that has been roaring for over half a century. The first major gun control act was the 1934 National Firearms Act. This attempt was to control the growing amount of mafia related crimes of the 30 's. Ever since then both federal and state governments have been cracking down on guns through gun control. Gun control is a failure because it does not work, firearms are not the problem and guns stop crime.
Lott continues on to mention that Even after accounting for factors such as law enforcement, poverty, and demographics, each percentage point increase in gun ownership produces a four percent drop in violent crime. Backing the claim that, “States with higher gun ownership rates have much lower crime rate” (Lott 29). Lott also mentions that Countries with the strictest gun control laws tend to have the highest homicide rate. This once again shows a correlation between a higher gun ownership rate and a lower violence rate. Mauser and Kates also support Lotts claims by explaining, “Where firearms are most dense violent crime rates are the lowest, and where guns are least dense violent crime rates are the highest” (Kates, Mauser 649).
The United States has more than 3 million population, accounting for about 6 percent of the world’s population. But the U.S. shooting rampage accounts for nearly 31 percent. Although many people try to carry out some policies about gun control, such as Obama and Clinton, but neither of them is successful. Many people may think why gun control is such a controversial issue in America. I think there is a wide array of obstacles and the NRA (National Rifle Association of America) plays a vital role in these obstacles.

Policy making is a long and rondures process, in which there are many red tapes that surround it like bureaucracy which prevent or slow down any process from being made. But when it comes to gun control and the publics safety and health some red tapes must be ripped off but some are not, and this is a big problem as some parties have different opinions and fact on the problem itself. Lawmakers are trying to argue about gun control in other countries already causing less of a chance of gun related deaths. Countries such as Canada and the United Kingdom have had small amounts of success with their gun laws but, crime does not seem to have dropped off like they hoped. Adding all of the new gun laws and regulations in America would most likely get the same end result as those two countries. Gun Control is a very big topic that is being spread around right now. With all of the mass shootings that have happened within these past years guns have been highly viewed as a weapon of death and a weapon of mass destruction. Although that it may have the potential to kill animals or humans I do not think that they should be outlawed or illegal. Many people have different opinions on gun control and that is ok.

There are as many people who advocate for pro gun laws as the people who are opposed, which is the reason why gun control has become one of the most controversial topics as of right now.
