Who is Gun Control Really For?
“Should we have background checks, waiting periods? To drive a car you have to pass a test that shows you know how to drive your safely, you should have to do the same thing with guns” (Barnes). People control guns. It is not the other way around, just as a dog on a leash when it is on a walk. It is going to want to wander, but the human that owns the dog controls it with the leash, so that it will not wander. People have the ability to control guns just as an owner of a dog has the ability to control the dog while it is on a leash. Guns are dangerous objects and humans without the proper permits should not be able to own or carry such dangerous weapons with them out in public. It is ok for police officers, anyone in the bodyguard business, sometimes, and the military. Think about the case of Sandy Hook Elementary shooting. Adam Lanza, had a mental illness and had access to a gun. Lanza shot his mother just before heading to Sandy Hook and shooting twenty children and six faculty members. Who is to say if someone like Lanza could get his hands on a gun, then what is stopping someone with a worse mental illness from doing the same exact thing except with more innocent people at stake. “Reports suggest that up to 60% of perpetrators of mass shootings in the United States since 1970 displayed symptoms including acute paranoia, delusions, and depression before committing their crimes” (Metzl 1). Mental illness is one of the main reasons behind mass shootings and that alone should prove to Americans how important it is to limit who can conceal and carry guns. Even if the Second Amendment can not be fixed, the government should be able to pass a law of some kind that makes more requirements for who can have access to guns and if people can have access to guns if they can have it as a conceal and carry or …show more content…

A good change to it would be that people who wish to buy ammo from anyplace must show the proper I.D, gun class certificate, and a small description of the types of gun(s) a person owns. After a person has brought it into someplace, it would be registered within the computer system so that the next time they come in to buy ammo all they have to do is either show their ID, give their gun class registration number, or do both things to make sure. Yes, it puts a limit on the anti-gun control people, but with that added restriction no more restrictions should be forced upon the purchasing and carrying of a
