Arguments Against Gun Control

Do you know what gun control really is? Gun control is the set of laws or policies that regulate the manufacture, sale, transfer, possession, modification, or use of firearms by civilians. Over 13,000 gun homicides take place each and every day in the United States alone (Gun). If gun control is regulated, we would have less crime because allowing access to assault weapons, especially at a young age, makes killing easier, more efficient, and impersonal, which increases its lethality.
Gun control has many pros and cons. Some of the pros includes the Second Amendment, fewer suicides, accidental deaths, knowledge, and safety. The Second Amendment is not an unlimited right to own guns. It was intended to protect the rights of militias to own guns, …show more content…

There is a big percentage who favor these laws and big percentage who don’t. For the banning of assault style weapons, 54% of Republicans and 80% of Democrats. For the banning high-capacity magazines, 54% of Republicans and 79% of Democrats. For allowing teachers to carry guns in schools, 69% of Republicans and 26% of Democrats. And for allowing concealed carry without a permit, 30% of Republicans and 26% of Democrats. (Console)
The N.R.A or the National Rifle Association, favors Trump and the Republicans. They have spent more than 30 million dollars supporting Trump’s campaign. A lot of people think that most gun owners are N.R.A members, but their not. However, gun owners are more likely to have contacted a public official about gun policy than a non-gun owner. (Schultz)
Assault weapons ban is the biggest topic in gun control laws. Statistics show that banning the assault rifle or other assault weapons would have little effect on overall gun violence. A small percentage of gun violence involves the use of an assault weapon of any kind. Around 60% of gun deaths are from suicide; an AR, assault rifle, ban would have no effect. On the other hand, experts say that an assault weapon ban may have an effect on the lethality of mass shootings (Lopez). In fact, out of 62 mass shootings, 42 were done with assault rifles
