Immigration has two definition : one is when a person moves to another country permanently and the second is when an animal starts occupying space it was previously unknown at. One can apply the first or the second definition based on their perception of immigrants. Immigrants have been part of this county’s history since the beginning of time. One can say that the first Americans are descendants of immigrants who came from Europe to America for a new life. This land from its beginning has been set on the foundation of immigrants, New York being that capital for immigrants, landing it the name of Melting Pot. A place where one comes for a better future for themselves and their offsprings, so they can lead a better life than what they had. Even today, many politicians try to appeal to the immigrant population to gain their votes, addressing problems they are facing and providing solutions which never end up being followed thoroughly. With their votes, also comes their impact on the overall economy of New York and the country. They boost the nation's overall economy and studies have shown that immigrants actually raised average wages of native workers during the last few decades. This shows the continuous impact of immigration. Also as more immigrants enter the U.S. the demand of housing, household products, food and etc also go up raising the domestic export and import. Though, at certain states, the low population can cause distress due to tax as immigrants have to pay less taxes. However in cases like New York, the immigrant population tax paid is not as much as they will use. They will probably give more to government services than the amount they will actually use in their life, so overall it is a win for the
