he Merriam-Webster Dictionary defines controversy as, “a discussion marked especially By the expression of opposing views’’ (“Controversy”). There are many controversies that affect society today. Controversy can cause fights, destroy families and intimate political strife. Some of the major controversies affecting America today are racism, killing, and how kids just sit in a class all day. Regardless, everyone is free to have their own speech and they will defend their opinions on controversial topics. To begin, ‘’College student athletes put everything on the line — their physical health, future career prospects and years of their lives to compete. Colleges reap billions from these student athletes’ sacrifices and success but, in the same breath, block them from earning a single dollar. That’s a bankrupt model” (“Paying College Athletes”). They go all out and do not earn a single dollar from it at all and it's sad. People go to watch these college games and treat them like NFL/NBA games. The players playing in them are not getting something from it financially. When they leave college, they still have to pay thousands of dollars, and getting paid would help them pay off the college debt. To continue, one of the highest paid basketball coaches was the University of Kentucky head coach, John Calipari, who was paid over $8.2 million per year. Many other head men’s basketball coaches were paid more than a million once a year and every year after that (“Paying College Athletes”). One coach getting paid millions and all the other coaches getting paid half a million while athletes earn nothing for their effort. And finally, playing college football can keep some players in poverty. The players even though they earn millions for the college, they have little money of their own. (“Paying College Athletes”). For reason number one, “Police body cameras provide visual and audio evidence that can independently verify events”(“Body Cameras”).Body cameras are good for the safety of the people and the policeman.. They help show the truth of what actually happened in the moment.They can show what the officer did in the moment and will show if he was right or wrong. Another reason, one study found that police officers wearing cameras would keep the camera’s recording for the whole shift and the use of violence was lowered (“Body Cameras”).Some officers use violence when the camera isn't recording and they are wrong when they use violence so they turn the camera off.When they keep the camera on they do not use violence because they do not wanna get in trouble.Finally, with all jobs there are people who will not tell the truth.
