Have you ever predicted an out of the blue phone call from a distant friend, dreamed a dream that came true, predicted an event, or had a feeling about how an event was playing out elsewhere? More than likely, you have or at least know someone who has. Being able to predict these instances accurately is known as extra-sensory perception, which is more commonly known as the ability of seeing the future. In his article "Three in Four Americans Believe in Paranormal," David W. Extra-sensory perception is experienced predominantly through cognitive thinking and "feelings." It is considered to have a "virtually unlimited range." There are multiple types of extra-sensory perception. These different types include telepathy, mediumship, clairvoyance, precognition, retrocognition, psychometry, and telekinesis (Harris 1). Telepathy can be defined as "the ability to read another person's thoughts" (Harris 2). Telepathy works by sending messages to another person's subconscious. A person can send words, pictures, or ideas through telepathy. "Telepathic Scanning" is most often accomplished by the use of a link. An example of a "link" would be wearing the same bracelet. In order for telepathy to work, both the sender and the receiver must be in a relaxed and meditated state. This type of extra-sensory perception is often mistaken for a form of mind control, which it is not ("Telepathy Overview"). Mediumship is defined as "the ability to channel dead spirits" (Harris 2). Mediumship causes so-called "paranormal activities" to take place. Mediums are able to manipulate different types of energy and energy systems by using a cooperation effect between the person and the earth. Some mediums are also able to manipulate and transform physical systems and energies. For example, they can cause an event to occur on Earth's plain, such as an earthquake or tornado ("What is Mediumship/Channeling"). Clairvoyance is "the ability to see events or objects happening somewhere else" (Harris 2). Someone who is clairvoyant receives intuitive information visually. An example of a clairvoyant would be a fortune-teller. A clairvoyant can see beyond the surface in order to receive a much more in depth understanding about another person or object on a subconscious level. Clairvoyants may experience vivid dreams or dreams that
