Adoption is the process of taking responsibility and giving care to a child thats not one's own by birth. The process of legally having all the parental rights transferred to the adoptive parents. As for the child or children who are adopted, they get all the emotional, social, and family benefits as biological children would get. Its been told from many articles and websites that “In the past couples years, the estimated number of LGBT couples that have a child is 6 to 14 million.” ( Findlaw ) Same-sex adoption helps children move out of the child welfare system. The child welfare system are the ones that receive the reports when a child is being neglected or abused in a home. They provide protection and care for the children, also moving them into a new foster home. This only increases the number of couples to adopt which can move children into a stable family. As the trend continues, the numbers will only increase. Now many more children get to have a family of their own and couples get to feel the joy of being able to have a child and give their care and love to them. LGBT couples does not mean their desire to wanting to raise a family changes and courts have stated that treating same sex couples different would be a violation to the Equal Protection Clause.
