Many ask the question of rather or not is appropriate to seek revenge, and if it destroys or benefits. Some not only believe it is okay, but encourages others to seek revenge. This, however, is not the case. Seeking revenge will not only destroy your reputation, but will also destroy your spirit. First, seeking revenge may keep you from growing spiritually and keeping you from God’s wrath. In Genesis of the Bible, we notice revenge through the story of Cain and Abel. In this story, Abel was the shepherd of flocks and Cain worked the ground. They both gave offerings to the Lord, but God was more pleased with Abel’s. Cain, out of anger, murdered Abel. The Lord punished Cain with a curse where he could no longer live in that land and he received a mark of shame. If Cain would have accepted the fact that God was more pleased with Abel’s offering than his, then he could have worked harder to please God when the next offering came around. Next, death in friendships can be an effect of revenge. Two girls that I know use to be best friends with one another. They both liked the same guy, but obviously they both could not date him. Some of these complications include losing friendships, receiving a bad reputation, or even things as severe as losing loved ones. In the playwrite, “The Tragedy of Romeo and Juliet,” we see an example of these complications through Romeo. He obviously hated Tybalt, not only because he was a Capulet, but also because Tybalt murdered a close friend of Romeo’s: Mercutio. Romeo killed Tybalt out of vengeance thereafter and was casted out of Verona for punishment. Ultimately, this caused the death of Romeo and Juliet, because there was so much needed strategy for meeting out of Verona which caused the complications of their
