Social Media can be a person’s best friend or worst nightmare. For years upon years social media has taken the world by storm with its great capabilities to allow people to regard what is happening in the world also allowing communication with others in a matter of seconds, dramatically, improving people’s knowledge of what is happening in their country, state, and city, creating, vast amounts of friendships along with relationships with others, allowing, people express themselves for others to examine. Instagram is one of the biggest social media websites to ever be created. Instagram allows people to post photos or videos of themselves, their surrounds, or even events that are coming up in the future. People start to gain numerous followers, based off of what they post. Followers can favor the photo, comment, and can share the photos for even more people to observe. Vast amounts of people use Instagram for group events. For example, a youth group from Pillager, Minnesota has an Instagram account to send out information about when they are meeting, where they are meeting, and what topic they are going to be discussing during that certain event. Accordingly, Social media can be a genuine tool, letting people know what is happening in their lives, providing information to members of groups on what is happening and when. Media addicts often are looking at their phones, scrolling through Facebook, Twitter, and other social media websites, searching for the latest topics for hours upon hours. Often, copious amounts of people become numb to the surroundings around them, having no idea what is going on five feet in front of them. A study was posted by Lifewire, said that researchers for Chicago University concluded that social media has become ranked ahead of the addiction to alcohol and cigarettes. On the flip side, being addicted to social media is far better than alcohol and cigarettes, but still producing a major effect on humans, causing damage to the eyes and brain over long periods of staring at a technology
