Oluwatofunmi Ogunkoya March 14, 2024 Mod 5 Arc 2 Argument Task. Do you ever feel like you are being controlled by someone to do something against your will? I will be writing about how the government used the soda ban to control the citizens of New York without them making that decision. The government should not regulate personal choices like was done with the New York City ban because it limits us from making the decisions we want, and goes against what this country stands for. One reason why I'm against the ban is the government shouldn't be the ones making decisions for us. It also supports my reason because taking away the options in sizes would force someone to get only one specific size, which again is another way the government is making decisions for us by forcing us to get one. We should be able to make our own decisions when we feel like it, and it shouldn’t be up to the government. Another reason I have for why I'm against the ban is that it goes against what the nation stands for. Also in the text "Ban the Ban", the author stated that "I, personally, feel that it goes against everything this country stands for—we are a country built on freedom." I agree with the fact that a country has to make laws for its citizens, but certain laws like the soda ban limit people to what they are able to do. If someone wanted to go get a 34 ounce cup of soda from mcdonalds they wouldn't be able to do it, or if someone wanted to drink a large cup of soda
