The United States fought unnecessary wars in Vietnam and Iraq. The war on communism, in Vietnam, severed the United States compared to the war on terrorism, in Iraq. During both wars the U.S. Military spent millions to billions of money, deaths were extremely high, and both failed to accomplish their purpose. Firstly the Iraq War dealt massive harm to the United States in multiple ways.
Considering that the focus of this essay remains the national address made by Bush on the night of September 11, the findings of the researchers with regards to the speech will be of particular emphasis. The researchers found: “From overall foreign policy job performance rating in the morning (M = 45.03) to the post-speech approval of his announced policy actions and intentions (M = 78.10), his rating improved by 33 points” (Schubert et al., 2002, p. 572). Bush’s approval ratings, in the area of foreign policy, skyrocketed 33 points after the speech was delivered, thus, insinuating a causal link existing between the national address and public approval of a president. The researchers further note: “The data from our respondents show a significant effect for the Bush address on positive emotions (BAS arousal) and a strong effect on approval ratings of his policy statements. These effects on approval ratings were significantly enhanced for those actually viewing Bush’s address (Schubert et al., 2002, p. 578).
“Going to war was the only unselfish thing I have ever done for humanity,” said David Niven. In Iraq, March 2003, the U.S went to war with ISIS. George W. Bush said the Iraqi dictator, Saddam Hussein, was hiding nuclear weapons to kill a lot of people. When Barack Obama was elected in 2008, he brought the last U.S troops home. He then took the rest of the troops out in 2011 because it cost too much money for too many deaths.
At the end of his speech, most Americans have been assured that their country is strong and has successfully completed combat in Iraq. The only problem is the ad. His speech ends years before the conflict. If one views the speech from a more critical lens, Bush’s choices appear more manipulative than they are skillful. His appeals to Christian religion at the height of Islamophobia in America seem ill-timed.
An airstrike probably only destroy a few of their weapons not enough to make them stop fighting in the war. If the United States wants real damage they would have to drop a number of airstrikes to make real damage, that is a waste of weapons. Why not just drop the atomic bomb and have a greater impact than releasing a big quantity of airstrikes? The atomic bomb will get the work done in a few seconds and will be more efficient than shooting bunch of
The 2003 US invasion of Iraq was a disaster. What should have been a quick and dominant victory over terrorism turned into one of America’s biggest mistakes. A mistake that was fueled by lies cost the lives of hundreds of thousands of people, destroyed a country, and created more instability in the Middle East. After years of fighting, the negatives outweighed the positives, and therefore, the American invasion of Iraq was not justified due to the amount of deaths, lies, and instability caused before, during, and after the war.
Islamic terrorism is eating up large portions of the Middle East. The oil that, when we left Iraq, we should have taken, now ISIS has. And what they don't have, Iran has. I want to have the strongest military that we've ever had -- and we need it more now than ever -- but I said, "Don't hit Iraq. You're going to totally destabilize the Middle East.
The terror group ISIS has for the last years made big problems for the western countries. Their beliefs and “way of life” is reversed from the western mainstream, and this has resulted in a dangerously hot tension between the east and the west. What the best solution is to this problem we don’t know, but there are a lot of different opinions on how we should approach this problem. From the packet we received I agree with article nr. two of Andrew J. Bacevich.
August 6th 1945, for many it was the beginning of the end of an almost four year long struggle, but for others it was a day of horror. An entire city gone in seconds, along with 140,000 people. Yet, this ended the bloodiest conflict in history. The most devastating war of all history ended with the creation and use of the most destructive weapon of war. For almost 50 years and even to today its use echoed how easily we could destroy ourselves.
During World War II, the world saw Hitler torture and kill millions upon millions of Jews, during this time Hitler has gained land and grew stronger. Without the United States helping to fight Hitler would have probably be successful in committing genocide upon all of the Jews and take over most of Europe. currently there is a new group of extremist killing of people who do not share the same beliefs, this extremist group is called ISIS, or the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. ISIS was led by Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, who was killed currently. Just like Hitler invaded cities and towns of innocent people, dragging them out of their houses and mercilessly executing them, ISIS has done the same thing.
The morning of September 11th, 2001 was one that would change the world forever. An event that killed almost 3000 people would lead to the eventual loss of over 300,000 lives. September 11th, 2001 has become a day engrained on each American citizens memory and is still observed with a quiet reverence. The events of September 11th, 2001 would have severe implications on national and international security for several countries and sparked a “War on Terror”. This war has lasted for 13 years and is set to continue for the years to come.
While President Obama has called ISIS the “face of evil,” some people suggest that the President is not doing enough to bring about the terrorist organization’s downfall. Some analysts even insist that the attack on Paris was a direct attack on NATO, and they believe it is time to go to war. Pope Francis actually suggests the West is already at war, that we are facing some kind of “World War 3.” If we are in a third world war, then some question whether should be doing something immediately, but caution should never be mistaken for weakness. It’s difficult to go to when you don’t fully understand who you are fighting.
The Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham, otherwise known as ISIS, is an Islamic terrorists group who is very brutal. Beheading, beating to death, and manipulating a lot of others in the world. The world needs to take this group down so nothing worse happens to the world. The countries in the world need to come together and defeat this group. By coming together it would outnumber ISIS and surround them and force them to surrender.
The terrorist organization ISIS has become known for taking hostages with first world countries nationalities and then demanding ransom money from these countries in exchange for the captives’ lives. The latest example of this involves two hostages from Japan and a demand of $200 million to be paid for their release. Not paying is certain to lead to the Japanese prisoners’ deaths, but paying has a host of implications as well. What ought to be done? Should the Japanese government pay the $200 million for their citizen’s lives or should they ignore the request and leave the hostages to be killed by ISIS?
He needs to insure our safety, first for the short term. Recent countermeasures aginst ISIS have proven beneficial. President Obama has recently said, "ISIL leaders cannot hide, and our next message to them is simple: You are next,". This shows our commitment to curing the world of this plague. Small-scale attacks should be sufficient to slow the rapid growth, but they will not be able to hold them in the long run.
