Why is the death penalty so controversial

Why is the death penalty so controversial? That is the question that is needed to understand the views some people have. It is already known some people don’t like it or they do. I will be going over the history and a few points that each side has to offer on is it a good thing or a bad thing.

There is many different types that had been put to a stop because it was cruel and unusual punishment. it all started in world war one with the witchcraft. what they would do is tie you to a pole and burn you this was the first death penalty. most of us know that more was innocent of witchcraft.
