Since middle school I have been told that the people don't run this nation, then who does? While we once fought against a small government (Articles of Confederation), only to put ourselves in a position to have a government who is run by big corporations and others in high ranking officials to make decisions for their own well being rather than the well being of our nation. Now having to live in a Corporatocracy, nation controlled by corporations and corporate interest. The United States government also allows Election to be bought by letting the Supreme Court pass “Citizen United” which allows big corporations to pay for someone's campaign in hopes of buying the candidate as well as laws. The United States has one of the biggest militaries in the world with the latest technology known to mankind. Having such a powerful military, there budget alone is more surprising than their arsenals. The United States military budget is bloated and vast. Whats over looked by this budget is that half of its spent on outsourced service, not on the military.According to Think by Numbers “The final totals are $59 billion, 3 percent of the total federal budget, for regular welfare and $92 billion, 5 percent of the total federal budget, for corporations. So, the government spends roughly 50% more on corporate welfare than it does on these particular public assistance programs” (2006). From the amount given to the United States military budget a large majority is being spent on supporting or subsidy of private business, also known as Corporate Welfare. Taking money from the taxpayers and distributing it out to private corporations. Corporations also dealing with the 1% who are receiving the most money from all of our military budget. Showing that not even the people who are designed to protect us, can be protected by the elite 1%. This war on terror was face, isn't the only war we are fighting. They are censoring top stories, buying air time, and making sure people ignore the main issues. A lot of what the 1% do is illegal but the more we are aware the more action we can take place. With spending money to avoid the problem, they keep the nation at a stand still with them. According to AntiCorruption Society, “large news outlets studiously avoided any real criticism of the government’s claims” (2009). Our government is being run by official we never put in charge. They avoid any issues by censoring real stories, allowing the reader to believe we live in a utopia. Dan Rather says, “the government has allowed tremendous consolidation in ownership of the airwaves during the past decade” (2009). Allowing to buy stories and airtime on national Television is a real issue. Those who control the media and information can make influence others in a biased way. The American people are being targeted from their homes buy corporations buy their television programs. Making sure they see what they want them to see. The 1% has made bids to buy air time and it's being glady accepted by television executives. This leads to censorships. Tom Brokaw said“all wars are based on propaganda” (2009) Media won't cover the real stories or question the government or policies in any way that the American government and mainstream media been blended together as one. Taking a job in the media to become a real reporter isn't a real
