Since middle school I have been told that the people don't run this nation, then who does? While we once fought against a small government (Articles of Confederation), only to put ourselves in a position to have a government who is run by big corporations and others in high ranking officials to make decisions for their own well being rather than the well being of our nation. Now having to live in a Corporatocracy, nation controlled by corporations and corporate interest. The United States government also allows Election to be bought by letting the Supreme Court pass “Citizen United” which allows big corporations to pay for someone's campaign in hopes of buying the candidate as well as laws. The United States has one of the biggest militaries in the world with the latest technology known to mankind. Having such a powerful military, there budget alone is more surprising than their arsenals. The United States military budget is bloated and vast. Whats over looked by this budget is that half of its spent on outsourced service, not on the military.According to Think by Numbers “The final totals are $59 billion, 3 percent of the total federal budget, for regular welfare and $92 billion, 5 percent of the total federal budget, for corporations. So, the government spends roughly 50% more on corporate welfare than it does on these particular public assistance programs” (2006). From the amount given to the United States military budget a large majority is being spent on supporting or subsidy of private business, also known as Corporate Welfare. Dan Rather says, “the government has allowed tremendous consolidation in ownership of the airwaves during the past decade” (2009). Allowing to buy stories and airtime on national Television is a real issue. Those who control the media and information can make influence others in a biased way. The American people are being targeted from their homes buy corporations buy their television programs. Making sure they see what they want them to see. The 1% has made bids to buy air time and it's being glady accepted by television executives. This leads to censorships. Tom Brokaw said“all wars are based on propaganda” (2009) Media won't cover the real stories or question the government or policies in any way that the American government and mainstream media been blended together as one. Taking a job in the media to become a real reporter isn't a real
