News outlets that Americans have today are plentiful. You can access the news and learn about what is occurring around the world practically anywhere: from television, in magazines and newspapers, or on a smartphone, etc. News is absolutely accessible. Each news outlet crafts stories that differ from other news outlets, whether very minutely or rather vastly. Bias occurs. Bias is when the reporter of a story unknowingly or purposely puts their own emotions into a story, consequently making the story one-sided. In such case, it's nearly impossible for the viewer to actually know the story in it's clearest form. Worst of all the viewer is deprived of the opportunity to associate his or her own opinion on the matter at hand because the viewer has only learnt of a one-sided viewpoint expressed by a particular news outlet. When a writer includes a photo in an article that portrays the writer's point but contradicts another photograph or argument then there is bias. "The Law Saved George Zimmerman, Costing Trayvon His Life" by Ernest James uses a photo of Trayvon Martin, the young man who was killed by George Zimmerman for seeming suspicious, that states Martin is a a seventeen year old in the photo but in reality the photo was of Martin in his middle school years. Chicago News Report wrote an article titled "Trayvon Martin: Good teen or gangbanger? The photos the media doesn't want you to see". The article includes many photos of Martin taken when he was actually seventeen years old, as well as social media pages of Martin. Martin's social media pages included photos of large guns and scary animations, a photo of Martin at a gathering with gang signs in the air, and a photo of what seems to be Martin's arm with multiple large tattoos (Chicago News Report).
