With all the options of different access to media in the U.S., it is not hard to find out about any news that may be of interest to you. The problem is finding a news source that is actually tell the truth about the subject at hand. Since the news is controlled by six major corporate networks, unlike in the 80's where there were numerous news sources, it is becoming increasingly harder to find truthful news articles and reports. Most Americans are finding it harder and harder to find credible news sources and are looking at alternative sources to find out truthful information. Since the six major corporations control 90 % of the media these corporations are out for their own profit. This is the reason for the control over the media and the advertising they do in news, magazines, tv ads, and radio programs. Americans depend on a free press to monitor what happens in our country as well as our communities. A well informed public is the core of our democracy so it is important to provide funding to individual independent news sources that will provide the truth to the American people. The biggest threat is for the newspapers. Journalists can provide in depth coverage of issues happening first hand in communities and around the world. We the people need this information to make sound choices in our everyday lives, but the newspaper industry is losing ground to other forms of media.
