I adore the ancient creatures of the Ice Age. However. The return of the wooly mammoth could conflict with habitats and niches. If the wooly mammoth were to be resurrected it could cause harm to other species, such as exterminating the species or limiting the resources available. In addition, it would have to take on a new niche, which could lead to three outcomes. Either one species is driven to extinction. A species is eliminated in one place, and the other species is eliminated in another place. Or, the two species quickly evolve as a result of natural selection, and ultimately make a new species occupying new niches. The wooly mammoth would also need to find a new habitat, which in turn could make the habitat the mammoth settles in uninhabitable to certain species. …show more content…

It would have to find a habitat that is cold so that it won’t die from the heat, and need a safe place to call home. De-extinction could be about producing populations of diverse animals that can reproduce and live in the wild, where they can contribute to the ecosystem. But most of the effects would be negative, since we don’t know what will happen. What makes it worse is that the elephants that are being tested, the Asian elephants, are classed as endangered because of habitat loss and poaching. What makes the likelihood of bringing back the mammoths even lower is climate change.
