The United States is another large and powerful nation with an extremely strong military supported by its dominant number and quality of aircraft, advanced technology and weaponry, combat hardened troops, unmatched number of aircraft carriers and larger military budget. The spends an extremely large amount of its money on defense. In fact, the United States, “spends more money- $601 billion- on defense than the next nine top spending countries combined.”(Bender). The US treats defense as an extreme importance by sustaining its large budget and this contributes to its superior military. Its main battle tank, the M1 Abram, “has seen more combat than just about any other tank on the battlefield today. It has never been knocked out(completely killed) by enemy fire. Ever.”(Kearns). The US battle tank has been fiercely tested in combat and has never been completely destroyed, showing the quality of American equipment. The US also has been developing other technologies to add on to their armored machines. The United States also demonstrates its power at sea. Its most fearsome weapon is the aircraft carrier. In total, the US, “has 10 aircraft carriers… [The rest of the world has 10 [combined].”(Kearns). The aircraft carrier is a symbol of power, a symbol that the United States likes to have. The US’s aircraft carriers are capable of launching fighter jets, attack helicopters, and missiles from just about anywhere in the world. Attack helicopters are one the most important assets a military can use. In total, “there are 8,400 attack helicopters in the world. The U.S. has 6,400 of them.”(Kearns).
