The way that the United States Government treats illegal immigrants is horrific, and often ends in death for the men, women, and children that are caught attempting to cross the southern border. Crossing the border in and of itself is an immensely dangerous, and risky, feat, that claims the lives of many immigrants every day. However, being caught crossing the border illegally by the United States Border Patrol could yield some cruel, and quite frankly inhumane punishments for the immigrant, and anyone caught crossing the border with them. Unfortunately, the way that these immigrants are handled by the U.S. government often leaves lasting psychological, and physical damage on these immigrants. Quite frankly, the United States’ strict and honestly impossible immigration process has long since needed to be reformed. The reason that so many Latin-American immigrants are undocumented, is because of the laws that the U.S. has instituted to limit the amount of work visas given to these people (Driver, 2024). The United States could use the influx of immigrants in order to fill low-skill jobs that are in desperate need of being filled. These immigrants cross the border for no other reason than to create a better life for them and their families (Coronado, 2024). All many of these immigrants need is a job, and a chance to prove themselves. If we give more immigrants the chance to receive legal citizenship, less of them would need to turn to less than legal means of immigration. Allowing more immigrants to legally remain, or come into the country could also significantly benefit the economy! Because many of these immigrants are coming into the United States to work, and raise their kids, they in turn will spend more and stimulate the economy in the areas that they live (Driver,
