The Renaissance: The Four Social Classes

The word Renaissance means “rebirth”. The social classes were “rebirthed” into a growth that moved the social structure of the society into totally different directions than what had it had previously been accustomed to before the Renaissance. The four social classes were: the nobles, the merchants, the tradesmen, and the unskilled workers and during the renaissance they took on a growth that went in directions that caused society to expand and the social classes to be redefined. The nobles lived on large estates outside the city walls and served as military officers, royal advisers and politicians. The merchants sought to protect their wealth by controlling the government and marrying to noble families. The tradesmen were the craft workers
