Diverseness are Acceptable The story The Sage of Theare from Unnatural Creatures reminds me of some Greek mythologies, because it is also about Gods and things happens between gods and mortals. Unlike some other stories in Neil Gaiman's book, this story does not have any monsters or creepy creatures. But these gods that are considered as unnatural creatures in this story because they are not in reality. It is a fantasy story about a world named Theare. A fantasy usually contains a conflict between good and evil, or hero and villain and a coming to the age. The set of good and evil implies Thasper who brought new rules to heaven is righteous. And the time of coming to the age for the Thasper shows that even though diverseness do not fit in to the society from some people's opinion, but it will be accepted along the time. It is common for fantasies to include the conflict between good and evil. The concept of Good and Evil is based on religion fundamentals, such as Christianity has God and Satan. Not only that, good and evil are also based on moral. The article Good and Evil (Theme in Children's Literature) talks about the morally evil. “Moral evil therefore depends on the choice of each free-willed person, that is they have the choice to do good or evil in each situation. Due to the concept of free will, God is unable to prevent humans from committing acts of moral evil. If God did remove the ability to choose from the world, then theists would argue this would create an inferior world.” The editor talks about there is no certain definition for moral evil, because people decide what is good and what is evil base on culture and their surroundings. It is the time when the character change from powerless to realizing that they have more abilities than ordinary people. The coming of age is also the turning point of the story. Good characters always get strength and the evil ones always got beaten. Coming of age is always what people want to see for the ending or climax, because justice is what the world initiated. Besides that, from the coming of age story people found what they want to see on themselves. Some people are not sure what their life goals are or what they can do now. These lost people will receive hopes after reading the coming of age story. Coming of age is also educational for kids, the principle is that everything is possible when you put effort and faith. The coming of age method is also used in The Sage of Theare. After years of crackdown from Zond and gods in heaven, Thasper finally found out he is the sage of dissolution himself. With Chrestomanci's help, he went back to the heaven and stand up for himself. In the end of the story Thasper finally get accepted by the Heaven, it represent that the new ideas will get accepted by the society.
