“Maturity isn’t a product of growing older, it’s a product of growing wiser.” This quote shows it’s not about getting older, it’s about improving yourself. Coming of age is the development of a person as they transition from adolescence to adulthood. Two components of coming of age that I am using are experiencing loss and experiencing love. When Will's older brother Shawn is killed, Will matures when he realizes that rule number 3 revenge is useless because it has a continuous killing and does not solve any problems. “You Coming” (Jason Reynolds 306) This quote shows that Shawn is asking Will to either become a loser like the rest of them or to stand up and be better. Later Romeo meets this girl Juliet and is in love, she loves him back so they begin hanging out and plan to get married but then Romeo thinks Juliet is dead and kills himself but she never dies she was just asleep.
