The second Punic war was a series of wars between the Roman Republic and the Carthaginian (Punic) empire around 218-201 BC. The war was brought about by the rapid growth of the Carthaginian dominion in Spain. The Romans won the war against the Carthaginians and gained control of the western Mediterranean and much of Spain.
There were various outcomes after the victory of the Romans in the war. First, Masinissa, who provided service to Rome during the war, was crowned King of greater Numidia and the ally of Rome.
Second, Carthage was forced to pay a tribute of around 200 talents and all warships were given to Rome along with the remaining war elephants of the Carthaginians (Morey, 1901). Carthage was also to pay a large indemnity to Rome in silver. …show more content…

Fourth, Carthage was forbidden to raise an army or wage a war without Rome’s permission.
Basically, after its victory over the Macedonians and a series of Wars, the Roman republic grew from a regional power into the super power empire of the Mediterranean.
