In the poem, “What Every Soldier Should Know”, Brian Turner, details the ever-present threat of death in a war zone. This poem expesses not only the terror of the American soldiers, but also exemplifies the emotions that the Middle Eastern soldiers feel towards the American soldiers. The soldiers are experiencing death, chaos, and disorder, but for some of the middle eastern people, they experience that every day. A lot of Middle Eastern people are normal people, defending their home land, their family, and their country.
When I raised my hand, and took my oath of service I had no idea of the journey Leadership Philosophy that laid ahead of me. Joining late in life was one transition, but the transition into the Non-Commission Officer (NCO) Corps, and a leader has been a very rewarding experience. The values that were instilled in me as a child and those that have been drilled into my make-up as an NCO are very similar. The tenants of the seven Army Values have been what I have lived by most of my life and career, however there are four out of the seven values that I hold most valuable and live out on a day to day basis.
The Marine Corps Core Values are Honor, Courage, and Commitment these are the cells that make the marrow that's in the bones of the Marine Corps. They’re more than just a guideline on how to conduct yourself as a marine on and off duty, their a way of life. From day one of recruit training until our twentieth year in service we are expected to live by and constantly exercise these three values. With Honor you are meant to be loyal to the corps and all of its beliefs. With Courage you are expected to live up and beyond your potential to grow learn and test your limits.
Such as loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity,and personal courage. These are values that stick with you, values that are embedded in your conscience. Even as a military child like myself, these are values you just simply dont ignore. It would almost feel like an act of betrayal to one's country if one of these morals is gone against. These are values that we can only hope every person would have, much less our very own president.

The vast majority of successful Army leaders exemplify this definition in their everyday life. So, what exactly does this process involve?
The Importance of Accountability in the U.S. Army Every living thing on Earth demands discipline and accountability, but when it comes to U.S. Army, soldiers are trained specifically in these subjects. There are extreme costs at risk if these principles are not held high by the Armed Forces. Most organized Armies focus on the importance of accountability and teach it in the very beginning stages of readiness. Accountability includes things such as showing up on time to safeguarding sensitive records, keeping account of resources to watching out for fellow soldiers. Almost everything can be tied back to the importance of accountability.
A Soldier’s Dilemma Like many others in his regiment, Henry Fleming, protagonist in The Red Badge of Courage, expects the Battle of Chancellorsville to be filled with heroism and legendary acts of dauntless heroism. Heroism, however, seems nowhere to be found, and Henry is left questioning his own valor. In The Red Badge of Courage, Crane writes Henry Fleming as a flawed yet good-hearted character by revealing his inner thoughts as he runs from the battle, his actions directed toward comrades, and by displaying Henry’s differences at the end of the story to emphasize the inner struggle between courage and cowardice.
Honor is a word that is found from a long time ago, to be honor to someone, or be the honor itself. The honor is achieved by a person through his lifetime, and it’s something all of us humans trying to find, so we could discover the true meaning of our life. People go through struggles and misfortune in their life, to find that trait. From a story to another you are going to realize, how the characters are trying not to lose what they have. It is a motive to let you achieve the impossible, not even death would stop you from gaining your honor.
Meriam Webster defines profession as “a type of job that requires special education, training, or skill.” With that being said, to be a professional means that you have to be educated, well trained, and exhibit competent skills in the workplace. The Army profession however, is not just a job, but rather a noble calling. Unlike a job in which an individual is normally enticed with benefits and other employee perks to join an organization, an Army professional must have a strong inclination to serve his or her country, especially when its main duty is to provide security and defense to the society. An Army professional therefore, is an individual that has meet the Army’s standard of competence, character, and commitment.
As leaders, it is important to communicate our priorities and values so that every Soldier knows what is expected. Reading and absorbing this philosophy will give you a solid ground for what is expected from you and what you can expect from me. Rely on the Army values to help you make good decisions. In particular, remember the following values: • Integrity: Having integrity is, to me, one of the most important Army values. Having integrity means you do what is right even when no one else is around.
