Brook versus Owen: Through the Eyes of WWI Soliders The attitudes toward any given war sees a change as the war goes on. In the very beginning of the war, citizens of the country tend to be more in favor of it than they are at the end of the war. This is clearly seen in the works that people produce such as Rupert Brooke’s “The Solider” and Wilfred Owen’s “Anthem for Doomed Youth.” Both of these poem talk about the same subject matter but focus on two different things. “The Solider” is about dying during battle but the focus is on the authors feeling that his death would be okay since it was for England. “Anthem for Doomed Youth” is also about dying in battle.
