The story of Legend consists of many large and meaningful events and conveys the storyline of two major characters, Day and June. During the book, Day encounters many struggles with the government, himself, and his own family. Whereas, June faces issues with her trust in the government, her emotions, and her family. In the beginning, the first conflict of the story is introduced, where Day explains how his family is extremely poor and sick that he must rebel against morality and rules to save them. After this is introduced, Day faces an external conflict by trying to break into a hospital, steal medicine, or cures as the book puts it, and escape without being captured. As proven on page 33 of Legend, “What happens next is a blur. I see Metias tense up to fire his gun. I throw my knife at him with all my strength and he falls backward with a thud.” Which leads into the next event. After the reassuring death of June’s brother, June his destined to destroy whoever killed him. Of course she thinks it’s Day, and thinking so, she sets off undercover for the government to become one of Day’s “friends.” But, of course she keeps in mind to, eventually, turn on him. Once she befriends him and he lets her into his life, she deceives him into being captured by the government by asking him to care for his family, because the government was going to capture them. As soon as he arrives at their house, Day acts fast to hide his family. But, he is all too late, when the government arrives at his house and finds his family. Except, the government isn’t worried about his family as much as Day himself, who has managed to slip away. Suddenly, a shot goes off, forcing Day out of his hiding, to try and save his mother, who is
