In the beginning of the plays, three witches gather together to discuss when they should meet again. The second witch says, “When the battle is lost and won.” that will be when they will be again with Macbeth. What the second witch said can represent Macbeth. It foreshadows Macbeth will win in battle and lose some. The cost of his victories makes him lose some. In the middle of the novel is shows how Macbeth kills King Duncan and has won the throne to become king. This is one of the battles he has won. After he becomes king, Macbeth becomes to get guilty of killing the king and loses sleep. This is a battle he has lost to himself. After Macbeth lost and won some battles he meets the three witches.
