Tollund man
The Tollund Man is a naturally preserved corpse found in Denmark. It was assumed that he was the victim of a recent murder however due to modern scientific research it would seem that his story would go a lot deeper than we originally thought.
The Tollund Man was first discovered in the Bjældskovdal peat bog. The bog in question was found in North-Central Denmark. He was dug up by 2 brothers and their family. They were digging for peat to be used as fuel. They believed that it was a victim of a recent murder as it seemed so fresh. He was discovered on a Saturday on May 6th in 1950. His arms and hands were pretty much skeletonized and almost ruined due to the peat digging in the bog. However due to his red hair from staying in the bog we are sadly unable to tell what colour his hair was. His face looked peaceful and solemn as if he was just sleeping. The head was incredibly well preserved shockingly (2). When he was dug up the Tollund Man surprisingly came with a wealth of artefacts. There was a cap, a belt and a noose all with him. The cap was made out of painted sheep skin and was secured to his head using 2 leather straps. It was also made to be pointed. The belt around his waist was made of leather. Around the neck was noose which may provide information about how he died. The noose would mean that he was probably hung so we would have to think about reasons to be hung back in the prehistoric times of the world. One of the best theories that archaeologists have come up with is that he was a sacrifice for a ritual. It's pretty much unknown why he would have been sacrificed but one of the best bets and pretty much the most accepted one around the world is that he was sacrificed in order to ensure fertility. This is the most widely accepted theory by archaeologists around the world. It's
