Unfortunately, his fame brought him immense anguish in 1932 when he lost his child, Charles Lindbergh Jr. Charles Lindbergh Sr. and Bruno Hauptmann were the true culprits of Charles Lindbergh Jr.'s kidnapping. Bruno Hauptmann was judged guilty owing to the ransom money discovered in his home, the ladder fashioned from his home's boards, and the fact that his German accent was identical to the one reported by John Condon. Jaycee’s stepfather immediately reported the crime, yet despite having an eyewitness account and immediate reporting of the crime, the kidnapping remained unsolved for eighteen years. Involuntary Servitude The article “Jaycee Dugard” from “The Crime Museum” explains that Dugard was stripped of her clothes and locked in a soundproof recording studio in her abusers’ backyard in Antioch, California, 170 miles away from where she had been kidnapped (Jaycee Dugard 2023). Jaycee Dugard had no history with her captors, yet her captors isolated her and used her for involuntary sexual servitude (Salonga, 2019). Patricia Hearst was kidnapped by a group of radicals who called themselves the Symbionese Liberation Army or SLA, on February 4, 1974. Hearst claimed that the SLA constantly put her through different types of torture, whether it was mental cruelty or rape. However, Hearst went through numerous trials to try and prove her innocence, but was ultimately found guilty. Patricia Hearst did receive a fair verdict in her trial because she had no proof that she was brainwashed or tortured, the FBI had surveillance footage of Hearst helping the SLA commit crimes, and audiotapes of Hearst admitting to join the SLA and that she was in love with the man that supposedly raped her.
Lastly, Josef Mengele did not give most of the prisoners he experimented on anesthesia. The fact that he didn’t use anesthesia makes everything that he did already ten times worse. The awful thing is that real human beings had to experience these excruciating experiments even when they did nothing to harm Dr. Mengele. This quote is from a woman who was held at Auschwitz during the Holocaust, “ I was used as a guinea pig for medical experiments. I was never ever given painkillers or anesthetics.”
