Modern symbolic prejudice is a belief system that mirrors the underlying partiality towards the black community, especially in the United States. This belief is based on an assumption that blacks violate the important values of hard work and individualism and that they are morally inferior. This paper will discuss the five main themes that characterize modern-symbolic prejudice (Gawronski, 2012)

In spite of the fight for equality and recognition, blacks face racial segregation from whites. After the enactment of the thirteenth amendment, slavery was abolished, strict segregation races were enacted. Signs were used for separating institutions and service centers. By the 1970s, segregation was declared unconstitutional, however, segregation is still faced in some institutions in America (Gawronski, 2012)

The fourth theme is that, Instead of working hard to succeed, black people seek to be favored. Recent surveys show that blacks say that the whole system as unfair to them and it needs to be changed for them to have equal rights.
