Powerful, notable, and distinguished. These are the words that come to mind when I think of the noun that is “greatness.” Many past and present world leaders have demonstrated throughout the years the act and demeanor that one has in being a great commander in chief. Theodore Roosevelt (1858-1919), Ronald Reagan (1981-1989), and Abraham Lincoln (181-1865) all exuded characteristics of how a great leader should be.Although the past presidents ruled the white house in different eras of American history, we can clearly see from their legacies that they ran the country with a distinct aura of greatness that has paved the way for future presidents to come.

With his positons he held he made sure to use all the resources he had in order to tackle all of the corruption and to preserve this nation as one of the greatest. Thanks to his preservation of the wilderness, we still are able to look in awe of all the natural beauty this country still possesses till this day. Overall, Theodore used his power in office to do well and used his new found powers to do what past presidents did not. He helped pave the way, providing a model of excellence that would inspire the future head of state by changing the way the presidency and the nation was to be run.
The next President who I also thought showed greatness during his time in office is Ronald Reagan. Like Roosevelt, Reagan was one of the most successful commanders in chief that defined what greatness is. Coming from humble beginnings to being the head of state, Abraham Lincoln showed leadership in ways that many other presidents before and after him did not. Lincoln was a man of principle.(Barton) Lincoln won over the people by acting as their equal and leveling with them, getting on a personal scale with his people showing no superiority but treating them as if he was there equal.
