The Future:

What is the future going to look like? What do you think the future should look like? Imagine a future where you have no control over anything, the government watches your every move. What if the government had cameras in your house? What if you were not allowed to have books? What if your career was decided for you? If your answers for how the future is going to look and how you want it to look are different, make a change and do something about it. You need to live your life to be remembered. If you are just going through the motions of life and doing the same thing everyday then how are you making a difference to the world? It would make it to where people could not buy votes and influence the legislative process. In his 1907 State of the Union Address Roosevelt proposed "There is a very radical measure which would, I believe, work a substantial improvement in our system of conducting a campaign, although I am well aware that it will take some time for people so to familiarize themselves with such a proposal as to be willing to consider its adoption. The need for collecting large campaign funds would vanish if Congress provided an appropriation for the proper and legitimate expenses of each of the great national parties, an appropriation ample enough to meet the necessity for thorough organization and machinery, which requires a large expenditure of money. Then the stipulation should be made that no party receiving campaign funds from the Treasury should accept more than a fixed amount from any individual subscriber or donor; and the necessary publicity for receipts and expenditures could without difficulty be provided" (Public Campaign). If the legislature doesn’t lower contribution limits then it will become a group of wealthy people making the decisions for this country rather than one leader. If the wealthy people are able to make all of the decisions for this country then the legislature will favor the wealthy people. Legislation would not represent the middle and lower classes, their concerns or their needs. If campaign reform happens then it would give everyone a more equal chance of electing people who represent all classes. Equality is a big issue right now so campaign reform would help that issue out a
