Sometimes college students are forced to read books that are dry and boring to fill a quota that is needed to show progression. College students tend to rush through books, and not pay attention to anything that is not surrounded by Netflix, Hulu and Pizza is not involved. One book changed the way I thought about religion as just going with the status quote, that shows me that religion is a find balance and mindfulness in hectic lifestyles. Living Buddha Living Christ by Thich Nhat Hanh showed me a light hearted version of Buddhism and Christianity to show the similarities that both religions hold. Thich Nhat Hanh showed me that the concepts of Buddhism and Christianity are similar because both religions strongly believe that one person is their savor. The story of how Buddha is born is born in told in such a beautiful light as he was born out of his mother side. Thich Nhat Hanh talks about living life mindfully that consist of the way you treat others, nature, and how you treat your body. As a college student running around campus with no idea of what I am going to do the next few years of my life I realize I do not take care of my own body. Hanh preaches towards the middle of the book the body is a temple and should be treated with respect. I know that drinking a monster energy drink and eating Hot Cheetos every day is not doing my body any good as Buddhist believe they are a part of Buddha. Treating my body with more respect is something I can do as a Christian, and also doing mindful eating. These task may be hard, but if being more cautious of what I am putting into my body to live a stress free life I am willing to cut down on the junk food and reach for an apple of kale more
