Homelessness Thomas Butler Jr. states “‘A lot of people in America don’t realize they might be two checks, three checks, four checks away from being homeless.’” In other words, people are spending their money without thinking about them going bankrupt and ending up homeless. Most people get paid the minimum wage in their job and spending money on unnecessary things, can easily make them not have a roof under their heads. This is caused because they don’t have enough money to pay off their rent. Homelessness can really affect people, especially families with little kids. According to Christopher Weber in AP News, with all the homeless people living everywhere, a lot of diseases are also being spread and affecting the cities along the West Coast.(Weber) This is hurting the economy and people as well because with all of this happening, people are leaving cities and moving to different places or it can also cause death. Diseases can be very deadly, which causes the population to decrease. As stated in the National Alliance to End Homelessness, there is a lot of support in the housing area for homeless people. According to Alastair Boone in Citylab, the government has been raising up the rent for homes, but not job incomes. Since the incomes of people are not high, it’s getting more difficult to find houses and it’s putting people at risk of being homeless.(Boone) This is unfair to all the people because it’s not all their fault, the government is not raising up the incomes, which causes people to go bankrupt. Daniel Neiditch from the Huffpost states that homeless doesn’t always mean they don’t have a roof over their heads, it can also mean people move in with other people because they don’t have a roof of their own.( Neiditch) In this case, there are a lot of people that are homeless because people like to double up with others to help lower down the rent. They both help each other out with house payments as well. The type of homeless that isn’t bad is the doubling up one because people are technically living under a roof and that is all that
