Type 2 diabetes is a big issue in the world right now. It is most common with average weight adults who have high blood pressure, high cholesterol and is physically inactive. It can also change a person's lifestyle and habits. e.g. people with diabetes become lazier and inactive. they can develop health problems like kidney damage, nerve damage, eye damage, foot damage and many, many more other health problems. 90-95% of people who are diagnosed with diabetes are more likely to get type 2. The thrifty gene theory is a theory about diabetes being formed in a faulty gene during pregnancy. Insulin resistance is when the body can not properly respond to the hormone insulin. Because of the lack of insulin to let in glucose, glucose levels rises in the blood stream. When this happens the pancreas, in charge of making insulin, produces more insulin to let the sugar get into the cells. Because of the great amount of insulin in the body, it lets all the glucose in the bloodstream reach the necessary areas.Glucose levels in the blood then drop very low, sending a signal to us making us want to eat which also signals the body to lower the amount of insulin produced. Type 2 diabetes is a by product of what happens when your body becomes insulin resistant. Type 2 diabetes are mostly given though genetics. this diabetes is caused by a combination of environment and genetic factors e.g. obesity, high bp, high cholesterol and physical inactivity. It is the most common type of diabetes with 90-95% of the cases of diabetes resulting in type 2. Type 2 diabetes causes the the pancreas to create too much insulin which causes insulin resistance. Because of insulin resistance the levels of sugar in the bloodstream rises and causes the red blood cells to become coarse which damages the circulatory system. The thrifty gene theory is metabolic abnormality that creates juvenile diabetes in the feotus. it was theorised to be traced back to homo sapiens whom starved during famines. Also that obesity is becoming more of a health issue and is causing more cases of Type 2
