Two of my most interested topics in psychology are human development and personality theories. By learning more about these topics, I began slowly understanding myself and the world around me. It's nearly impossible to capture the entirety of what goes on in the brain, but understanding key concepts like human development helps us be better people. This form of intelligence developed from a series of intelligence by Howard Gardner. Gardner's intelligence theory led him to the concept of multiple intelligences called “the frames of mind.” I believe that this intelligence is my strongest form of intelligence because of my reflective mind. I feel very aware of my thoughts and emotions, which I can use to my advantage. For example, I strengthen this part of intelligence through meditation. Practicing meditation allows me to become aware of my thoughts and the world around me. I can better understand who I am by spending 10 minutes alone and reflecting on my thoughts. I enjoy reflecting on myself because mentally creating the person I want to be and taking action will only translate positively in my life. Each person's memories are unique to each individual. There are specific regions in the brain that hold memories: the hippocampus, the neocortex, and the amygdala. These areas of the brain are responsible for the storage and retrieval of memory. Many psychologists used the terms “hardware” and “software” to describe the brain's memory system. Long-term memory includes memories of personal life events, facts, and information. I often recall memories from elementary school and retell stories from my childhood. One specific long term-memory is the science fair in second grade. In this science fair, from each class, one student was selected to participate to win a prize at the fair. The rules were to create a science project of our choice using a topic from the science book. I decided to test the different densities of 5 liquids and see what objects could float in those liquids. From this project, I can recall exactly what my project presentation looked like and the steps to measure density. This is called declarative memory, which is a category of long-term memory.
