Tim Hortons and Starbucks are both classified as coffee shops. However, when it comes to the final choice to choose which one is better, it can bring up a really heavy debate. However, there are big deciding factors between the two coffee shops. They are the prices, the quality and the number of locations between the two coffee shops. For starters, if one compares the prices between Starbucks and Tim Hortons’s menu, one would notice that Tim Hortons’s menu is much cheaper than Starbucks’s menu.
8. Offensives to steal customers – There was no mention in the case of “game changing technology or processes” that would give one competitor a distinct advantage over another. Most of the major organic foods retailers seems to have found their niche in the market and as such there does not appear to be any major moves to steal customers. The exception to this maybe Wal-Mart attempting to enter the market with the Wild Oats brand. However, as of 2014 their offerings were quite limited and do not present a significant danger to the established retailers.
Competitive Rivalry: The threat of competitive rivalry in this industry is high as it is considered to be mature with a high level of concentration. Tim Horton’s and Starbucks collectively add up to 75% of the market share. The remainder of the market share is a fierce tug of war between locally owned “third wave” artisan coffee shops. In addition to all the aforementioned coffee focused businesses, the broader food service industry also offers competition in the form of fast food chains and restaurants.
When I was seventeen I worked at a fast food restaurant called Tim Hortons. It was my second job and I surprisingly didn’t hate it. Actually, I really quite enjoyed the people that I worked with. During school days I would work the evening shift, which was from 2 P.M. to 10 P.M. Then on the weekends I would work in the morning from 6 A.M. to 2 P.M..
Each country has a specificity that contains the culture, economy, politics, laws and regulations, trademark rules, patent, licensing and exchange. And this contributes to stop the advancement of the marketing process of being broad to be global. So in terms of getting into a new environment, a marketer has to respect the culture of the designed country to get through with this business in a successful way. For our Maple Syrup Case, that is applied the same way as we have been mentioning the introduction of the new culture which is Brazil, but in our situation, this country is an open culture that contains a lot of diversity and it is an open market that would facilitate the engagement with this country.

As well, it is reminded through the Tim Horton commercials presented that Tim Hortons is a common thread to all pleasurable Canadian memories; hockey practices at 6 am, being welcomed to Canada with a cup of Tim Hortons coffee…etc. Finally, as noted by Newman (2017:28), “food is so emotional, so primal, it is almost impossible to not develop deep attachments to the spaces of culinary knowledge that we inhabit.” As shown in the commercials, especially with the one with Lilian and the one with the immigrant father, Tim Hortons can be thought to be very emblematic of Canadian
Article Summary The article I’ve selected summarizes the recent incident of Tim Hortons being hit by protests after them cutting benefits. It’s been ever since the minimum wage that the fast food franchise in Ontario have cut down their employee benefit cuts and pay breaks due to the fact that they believe it can’t full-fill the whole financial support for them.
