An Oklahoma State Trooper noticed a missing license plate on a yellow Mercury Marquis conducted a traffic stop. The driver of the vehicle that was pulled over was Timothy McVeigh, who was about 80 miles north of Oklahoma City at the time of the stop. The Trooper found a concealed weapon on McVeigh and he was arrested for the violation. The FBI quickly pieced together the timeline of when he was stopped and arrested, and determined it was only 90 minutes after the bombing of the federal building. The FBI collected McVeigh’s clothes and sent them to
It was like a combat area; over 300 buildings nearby were also damaged. McVeigh was arrested 90 minutes after for carrying a firearm and was already in FBI possession. Officials also that the men by the name of Michael Fortier and Terry Nichols were involved, knew about everything McVeigh was going to do, and even helped the plan financially. Fortier and McVeigh had a close relationship that always seemed to be on the edge of the law. Fortier sold many guns and stole materials to help the bomb be made.
Upon opening, the package explodes, injuring the security officer. This bomb was the first of 16 bombs the Unabomber would mail or hand deliver over a 17 year period from 1978 to 1995. During his reign of terror, the notorious serial bomber would kill three Americans and injure
One of an impactful, historical tragedy in U.S history is the Boston Bombing. On April 15, 2013, at about 2:50 p.m., two bombs exploded near the finish line of the Boston Marathon. On April 19, 1995, Timothy Mcveigh committed the most devastating terrorist attack at that time. This terrorist attack is known as the Oklahoma City Bombing which caused panic and chaos all over the United States. Early on that day, a Ryder truck containing a bomb made its way to the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building. This building was a United States Federal Government complex located in Oklahoma city, Oklahoma which included a day care center. Half of the building collapsed a couple seconds after the bomb which was located in the the truck denoted.
The rental agreement for the truck and McVeigh’s driver’s license both used the home address of Terry Nichols (Saferstein, 2011). McVeigh’s fingerprints were also located on the receipt for 2,000 pounds of ammonium nitrate, which was used to make the explosives (Saferstein,
In the article “Bombing survivor exemplifies resilience after miraculous recovery”, CBS News discusses how John Odom survives the Boston Marathon bombing in 2013 and surprises doctor by being able to walk again. He begins by describing that he was in Boston to cheer on his daughter for participating in the Boston marathon but never got the chance due to the debris from explosion that went on. Suddenly, John had too many problems, he was losing too much blood and was thinking he was going to be gone before all the help had gotten there. In addition, when John arrived at the hospital he was taken into immediate care and had many procedures done and was waiting to recover very soon. Above all, John was one of the last patients to leave the hospital
This friend, Michael Fortier helped finance the plot by selling stolen weapons (The Oklahoma City, 2015). Other evidence included residue from the cloths McVeigh had on when arrested. This residue matched the chemical used in the bomb (The Oklahoma City, 2015). Also, McVeigh’s fingerprints were discovered on a receipt for 2000lbs of fertilizer. This was a crucial element in making the bomb (The Oklahoma City, 2015).

Timothy bombed the building in retaliation for the siege at Waco,Texas. The effects were costly with 169 lives lost. This lead to higher security and the FBI to prioritize more terrorism cases.
The main cause for all of the destruction was a rented out Ryder’s moving truck filled with hundreds of homemade pipe and gasoline tank bombs, with the help of Timothy McVeigh and Michael Fortier filling the back of the truck with many of the deadly homemade bombs, Timothy McVeigh then drove the armed and very deadly truck outside to the back of a United States federal building, and then detonated the truck. it destroyed half the building, the whole north side of the federal building was destroyed. “To Catch a Bombmaker” by Clay Dillow appeared in Popular Science in October 2015. Catching a Bombmaker does not come easy; you must have intelligence, surveillance, and knowledge behind the science of a bomb. In “To Catch a Bombmaker” these three things led to a terrorist being caught in the action. Mr. Dillow’s purpose for writing this piece is to inform. Dillow is very professional in his writing.
The explosion blew up the Alfred P. Murrah Federal Building with many events had followed soon after. Calculating the death count, property damage, and the arresting of the terrorists’ to take them in for questioning were the actions made. Once everything was settled police were able to check
Gladwell put in the article of John’s talking to a cop about what was in the bomb. For example, “he told Schroeder, listing various kinds of explosive power, thousands of ball bearings, pipes for pipe bombs, fifteen pounds of potassium perchlorate,
“At approximately 2:49 that afternoon, with more than 5,600 runners still in the race, two pressure-cooker bombs–packed with shrapnel and other materials and hidden in backpacks that were placed on the ground amidst crowds of marathon-watchers–exploded within seconds of each other near the finish line along Boylston Street. The blasts instantly turned the sun-filled afternoon into a gruesome scene of destruction and chaos” (“Boston Marathon Bombings”). Soon after the attack a manhunt set out in search for the two suspects. Dzhokhar and Tamerlan Tsarnaev were the Boston Marathon Bombers who caused an unexpected event that led to the manhunt. The bombings, along with the manhunt caused much chaos and destruction to the city as well as to the
“Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall,” Confucius states. Whether it was the collapse of two monumental giants in New York City, the shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary or the Boston Marathon Bombing, the United States has witnessed countless, unfathomable acts of terror. Despite all of the recent tragedies, the events of September 11, 2001 will remain a memory in the hearts of all people who watched, in disbelief and fear, the collapse of the World Trade Center. On that fateful day, the terrorists believed they had won the battle by carrying out catastrophic devastation.
