However, I believe that obtaining wealth, respect, or fame while obviously desirable, is insufficient. Our sages teach us that the goal of every person should be Tikkun Olam(תיקון עולם), mending of our world. The idea is that you must leave the world a better place, than when you found it. As the author Antoine de Saint-Exupery said, “A goal without a plan is just a wish.” To reach Tikkun Olam one can have grand plans, but also every act of kindness whether big or small can make an impact in repairing our world.
