Latin American Paper People that fight with themselves may have been treated badly which could often lead to hatred or events that should not happen. With person vs self, it can go into something more in depth than emotion. Some Latin American literature authors have dealt with something that seems to be placed in their writings. For example, Pablo Neruda was exiled from Chile which you can see the theme or feeling of isolation in his poems. Person vs self-conflict often lead into hatred or isolation as shown from Neruda. People that has a person vs self-conflict, usually has something to deal with their past, daily life, or imprisonment. Time seems to be a major thing that goes into Latin American literature, due to, what has been going on lately or what will happen. In the poem “Too Many Names” by Pablo Neruda, Neruda uses the example of time to show how daily life is used. “time lost its shoes. A year is four centuries” (348), saying that every second counts no matter if a year is “four centuries” giving the idea that the author may have not had enough time to do something that he wishes to have either start or finish. Parallelism in poems and stories usually have a reason to be placed there if the reader notices it which could give more detail than usual. In the same poem “Too Many Names” parallelism seems to be shown to give and understanding of how the author was feeling or is feeling on that exact moment of the poem. “faltering names … sad formalities … pompous letters” (348), showing that in their daily life trying to know or remember a name may be hard as in trying to know or remember something important may be hard. Showing that time and parallelism is connected to daily due to the fact that every second may count. Knowing this in “Too Many Names” it shows how something may need time and help. “Unite them, bring them to birth” (348), showing that stuff that may need time could be uniting something or someone and same with birth, which shows that with time every …show more content…

Emotional language gives the feeling of how the author may have felt or is feeling. In the poem “We Are Many” by Pablo Neruda emotional language is shown to show the reader emotions of being imprisoned. “But when I call upon my dashing being out comes the same old lazy self” (346), showing that when the author calls on his spirit, or dashing self, only one is shown which is always the same old one. Due to him not being able to find his correct spirit and has to stick with his old same one, he will start to feel trapped. He starts to feel trapped, which scares him, thinking that he will not be able to find his real self. “if I really need my proper self I must not allow myself to disappear” (346), which is giving the fact that he can’t go for his proper self because he is being, trapped or held back. Giving the fact that he is feeling trapped it shows how he is fighting himself. He’s trying to figure out if he can get out and not have to worry. Emotional language like “dashing” gives us a feeling of how he wants to reach his true self but can’t. “I call upon my dashing being … and call upon my real self, the truly me” (346), which is saying that he is trapped even if he tries.
