It was first raised at the Capitol and is a sign of Colonial Unity. This means being united or joined together. The symbols on this flag are the Union Jack located in the left corner which is Great Britain’s flag. The rest of the flag consists of six white stripes and seven red stripes
On 27 May 1967 a Federal referendum was held. The 1967 referendum did not give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the right to vote. That right had been legislated for Commonwealth elections in 1962, with the last State to provide Indigenous enfranchisement being Queensland in 1965. Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders have had multiple campaigns to try and uphold the same rights as white people. The 1967 referendum was a public vote to determine the public 's opinions of two aspects of the Australian constitution (a written statement which outlines the country 's rules and regulations) that related directly to Indigenous Australians.
Celebration of culture for Indigenous Australians is imperative as a tool for defining and conserving their identity. By actively participating in traditional Indigenous culture in the form of games, students from diverse backgrounds can form an awareness and respect for Indigenous culture. The “Puldjungi” ball game instruction sheet could be used as an activity for a physical education lesson for grade five students in Victoria (Australian Sports Commission, 2008). The Puldjungi game would provide students with an example of a game which was played by young Indigenous Australians in Victoria. By partaking in the Puldjungi game, students will learn about an aspect of Indigenous Australian culture in Victoria in a fun and practical way.
The Native peoples couldn 't hardly help noticing the stars. The Pawnee told stories about Morning Star, who fought good and triumphed over star monsters. One sad
The stars help the reader understand how important the ideas of the family are. Hrbek says in the story, “As he bounds deeper into the maze of trees night`s first star appears in the night”(106). Hrbek uses the star to symbolize the family`s ideas and how they were scattered. The father wants the child out of his life, but the mother wants to embrace the child. The family`s thoughts are just like the stars.
On June 3 1992, the legal decision of the Mabo case was made by the High Court, the highest court in Australia’s legal system (Webb, 2008). For thousands of years before the arrival of the British in 1788, Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders have had their strong connection to the Australian Land. When the British arrived in 1788, it was declared that the country was terra nullius (land belonging to nobody), which resulted to the absence of recognition towards the connection between the Aboriginals and Torres Strait Islanders and the Australian land. The declaration of terra nullius also resulted to the British taking land without agreement or payment towards the indigenous Australians (Webb, 2008).
The flag consisted of a dark blue background with a cross and five eight pointed stars. The flag symbolised democracy, defiance and nationalism. (N. Grant, 2014) It was designed by Henry Ross, a member of the Ballarat Reform League and constructed by wives of the miners. (A.Parry, 2007)
My flag consists of a green and yellow background with a Eureka flag in the middle surrounded by a circle. I have chosen the green and yellow because it represents many aspects of Australian culture. Firstly, green and gold represents the tradition colours of Australian national sporting teams. Many national sporting teams still wear the green and gold such as the ‘Socceroos’ (Men’s national soccer team), the ‘Kangaroos’ (Men’s national rugby league team) and the ‘Diamonds’ (Women’s national netball team). Green and gold are together embodied on the Coat of Arms which is the official symbol of the Australian government.
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders faced many challenges during World War I, hardships were experienced during enlistment and combat. Laws and discrimination barred Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islanders from enlisting in World War 1 (Deadly Story, 2015). Nonetheless, masses went to fight in the infamous campaigns of the war. Over 1,000 Indigenous soldiers travelled from Australia to fight the Central Powers (Australian War Memorial, 2019). These soldiers were courageous and tough, and many became renowned war heroes.

Change. It’s what many people fear. What would you do if something so familiar in your life was gone; changed forever? Changing the Australian flag would be taking away a piece of our country 's heritage. As Dame Quentin Bryce commented, "Our flag, and icon of our shared identity, is much loved, worn and flown by Australians here and across the world.
Art has traditionally been used in ceremonies and rituals long before pen and paper. It was used in the soil that was smoothed for inscription of sacred designs . Art was ephemeral and natural materials were used to tell stories in sand, on trees, rocks bark, bodies and other natural substances to illustrate their stories and songs. Present day Aboriginal art, as we know it, originated in 1971 with the arrival of Geoff Bardon in Papunya. Geoff was an art teacher and artist.
What do they seem to represent? Thoreau employs the symbols of stars to demonstrate literature and Thoreaus percpetion of its superiority and difficultness
Point 1 of the Elven Star symbolizes the Sun, and the element Fire. The Sun is a primary life force. We need it to exist. The sun, and the first point of the star, symbolize life, creation, fertility, energy, and power. Point 2 corresponds with the Wood, and the Earth element.
This is also connected because it reminds me where my family is from. My culture is based around this flag because it makes me who I am. It’s important to me because it came from my great grandparents who passed it down so we know where our
