The general job duties of an event planner are a lot more complex than anyone would think. Many companies depend on event planners to, "Organize and schedule onsite and offsite corporate events, Conduct research, make site visits, and find resources to help staff make decisions about event possibilities, Identify, invite, and confirm appropriate speakers for conferences, and Coordinate menu for all meal functions"(McKay 1). Event planners are, also, responsible for directing and solving many, daily challenges that are vital to the successfulness to an event. Every single one of these qualities are as equally as important as another for an event planner to have. Being organized can prevent the failure of an event by accidentally forgetting something that is very important, even though it does not seem like that at first. Forgetting something as miniscule as a place for guests to use the restroom can ruin an event by making someone walk somewhere else or leave the event altogether to simply use the restroom. This may make them not want to come back. An attention to detail is important because this ability is essential in making any event, big or small, special. Strong interpersonal skills are vital for this job because knowing how to talk to someone, anyone and have a conversation and communicate is crucial to the sound establishment in any relationship, professional or personal. A conversation they may need to cover is to negotiate and manage all aspects of contractual commitments for associates, like vendors and suppliers. This a conversation that can quickly turn sour through bad body language or word choice and tone
