Similarities between characters in literary works shows how a theme can transcend time and culture. While reading “A Street Car Named Desire” by Tennessee Williams, “Night” by Elie Wiesel and “Hamlet” by William Shakespeare, all have character similarities where each one had a goal in mind, accomplished that goal and experienced some difficulties along the way. The main characters of each story came from a family of wealth, prestige and tragedy. They all had to persevere to accomplish their goal regardless of the obstacles that were put in their way. Each story involved love, manipulation and a strong desire to seek revenge on people who have done them wrong. Although, these stories took place in the past, you can see the same issues going
