Do people view lenses through the stories that are read or through what’s presented to them? The Story of an Hour by Kate Chopin is a story full of lenses which further presents the question of how they are most accurately portrayed. The tale is of a housewife in a traditional Victorian marriage. She soon learns of her husband being killed in an accident, or she thought so. As time progresses, a multitude of opportunities are presented.
From the video “The transformative power of classical music”, Benjamin Zander did an experiment on the audience by playing piano and gave example of the people he met that are affected by classical music. First, he gave the example of a child who play piano since he was seven but then he decided to quit. But the problem is not the way a child play, it was about his perspective with piano and classical music. He said that a person should be “one-buttock player”, not “two-buttock player”.
Empfindsamkeit originated in north Germany during the mid-18th century. It translates to sensibility or sentimental. Carl Phillip Emanuel Bach, also known as C.P.E. Bach, was one of the composers who was able to capture empfindsamkeit in his music. C.P.E. Music has been around since the beginning of time. People use it for entertainment, expression, and a form of art. When thinking about classical music (and music in general) the one person that comes to mind is Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This paper will go into depth of the cultural significance and meaning of one of Mozart’s most famous pieces, Eine Kleine Nachtmusik. In other words, deliberate practice (individual and functional), being told by my coach to catch 100 footballs every day (environment) and learning to specifically catch only a football (task) are all constraints that have either hindered or helped my development. I had plenty of time to deliberately practice owing to the fact that my only obligation was to go to school. In view of that fact, the deliberate practice became a rate enhancer and was very important for my development due to gaining immediate feedback from whoever was throwing to me and having a knowledge of the results afterward. Catching 100 footballs was also a rate enhancer because it relates to deliberate practice. My coach told me to do this which made me truly understand the nuances of catching.
Trying to be more proactive, 'thinking on my feet' (Shön, 1983), applying new techniques on practice also added some anxietyto my perfomance. Analysing the difference, I understand that positive extrinsic feedback (Race, 1993) can help me to reduce a level of stress, focus on my strengths and do not fall into a trap of self-destructive criticism. Lishman (2009) argued that our interactions in practice can be effected if we are unaware of own personal attitudes, assumptions and feelings. By being clear about our 'difficult' areas and by being 'aware how functional or dysfunctional I am likely to be' (Lishman, 2009, p 93). As Coulshed & Orme (2012) noticed 'people can say one thing but their behaviour can indicate the opposite'.
Sitting there, not learning anything is basically what sums up my practice. I think this problem has changed me because I don't really enjoy doing those things
By saying this I mean learning the proper technique of
1.) Introduction Renowned American author Stephen King is famous for taking the horror genre out of its typical Gothic environment, and bringing it to our everyday life, proving that about anything can be a source of terror. By exploring the dark side of human society and breaching moral codes and taboos King manages to create the distinct feeling of uneasiness and revulsion which is a characteristic feature of his works. Although King himself generally does not mind being pigeon-holed (503) his collection of novellas Different Season (1982) constitutes a rather atypical work of his, in so far as the novellas are no horror stories to begin with.
