During the mid 1900s, technological advancements across the globe were expedited. At the beginning of the century, inventions like the radio or the airplane shocked the world. However, by 1938, scientist Otto Hahn discovered the process of nuclear fission (Wolfgang, 1). This breakthrough revolutionized the world of physics at a time where international conflicts were at a high. With the start of World War II, it was the United States’ mission to create the first nuclear weapon before Germany did in fear of global annihilation.
