“All of the best Heroes are ordinary people who make themselves extraordinary”- is a famous line by Gerard Way. This is exactly what Tristam does in the book KIng Arthur and His Knights of the Round Table Edited by Roger Lancelyn Green. Tristam follows Joseph Campbell’s Hero’s Journey because he has a unique call to adventure and assistance along the way. He also has many dangerous trials, a crisis, gains a treasure and lastly Tristam begins a new life. Tristam’s call to adventure was like no other. When Sir Tristram is having a peaceful time at his Uncle KIng Mark’s kingdom he comes to his castle, only to find a person who he has never seen before sitting in the royal chair. Tristam leaves Ireland and sails off to a island in a little boat. Sir Marhalt is waiting for him there. Sir Tristram pushes his boat off into the sea and says “Two men came to this island and only one shall leave alive”. Sir Tristram and Sir Marhalt go head to head in a battle that last all day.They both give each other painful blows but when Sir Marhalt gives Tristam a blow through his armour on his thigh, Sir Marhalt shouts “That will be your death!” and explains that there is fatal poison in his sword. This angers Tristam and with all of his might and anger he gives Sir Marhalt one blow through his skull, and this kills Sir Marhault. Lastly, after all of his hard work, Tristam gains a treasure. Tristram's treasure is not a big trophy or a huge party, it is a simple gift and it was earned by his hard work. Tristram's treasure was that he was able to come back home, save King Mark’s kingdom, and save 30 people of noble birth from Sir Marhault. Tristam also gains a new life. Life for Tristam is not the same anymore. He has gotten a fresh start. Once again Sir Tristram has
