(Background Information) There are two main groups in the Outsiders, one being the “greasers”, consisting of Ponyboy and his brothers Soda and Darry, Steve, Two-Bit, Johnny, and Dally, . The other main group in the Outsiders are the “socials”, nicknamed the “socs”. The socials are known as rich and elegant, while greasers are known as poor and ganglike with long greasy hair. (Specific Evidence that Supports your Point) One day, about four months back, Ponyboy, Sodapop and Steve are walking home from the gas station. They see Johnny’s jacket on the ground by an open field. There are blood stains on the jacket. A few feet away, they see Johnny on the ground not moving. Johnny explained to them that when the socs beat him they were wearing rings on their fingers, explaining why his face was cut up so badly. (Elaboration of your point and evidence) This happened to Johnny just because he was a part of a different group than the socs. Maybe none of this would have happened if society didn’t divide greasers and socs. The socs had no reason to beat Johnny so horribly. He was not harmful to them physically or emotionally.
