World War II had many outcomes, but not all of them affect the world today. Part of the outcomes that do affect the world today are affecting the world in different ways, for example the cold war, war crimes, division of Germany. One of the most important ones is the creation of UDHR (Universal Declaration of Human Rights), but one can argue that the most important one is is the creation of Israel. Israel is very impactful today as it affects the world politically, economically and socially, and the UDHR is supposed to prevent discrimination, slavery, and inequality. The UDHR was formed on December 1948, (History of the Document) three years after the war ended.
World War 2 help with the plea to have a Jewish state because of the holocaust and the extermination of the Jewish. This gave a stronger agreement to the Jews, and the reason they should have their state is because of what Hitler did and how they do not have a place to go to. In 1947, the United Nations votes gave a piece of Palestine to the Jew, which ends up being Israel. On May 14, 1948 the state of Israel is official. These human rights 'instruments', as they are called, have fixed how many rights apply to particular groups of human beings such as women or children. They have also come up with new ideas that were not part of the thinking of those who first drafted the Universal Declaration. The link between human rights and other pillars is clearly evident all the way through the UDHR. First, it allows, in the Preamble, that the credit of the unchallengeable rights of all people is the groundwork of freedom, justice and peace across the world. Secondly, it expands the UN Charter’s stated purpose of encouraging growth by giving economic, social and cultural rights the in the same degree of safety that an individual finds for civil and political rights (Marshall
Eleanor Roosevelt's role in the creation of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights allowed an international body to recognize man's inalienable rights which had never been done before. The UDHR is a culmination of everything that ER stood for in writing. A perfect way to describe the UDHR is “to this day as the most widely recognized statement of the rights to which every person on our planet is entitled (6).” This document, though, was not just magically agreed upon by all of these different countries, it was a massive undertaking. President Truman was a huge advocate for human rights and the UDHR.
Human rights, something that was written down for the world after the catastrophic second world war. Most know of the genocide of ethnic groups that were deemed inferior to Nazi Germany more specifically Jews, which were senselessly exterminated in camps such as Auschwitz and Birkenau. After the war the newly formed United Nations voted and passed The Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in 1948, under this declaration lists thirty unalienable rights shared by all human beings. However, these rights can’t be actualized for everyone on the planet, both before and after the UDHR was written. The reasons being is that firstly, when people are pressed into a survival situation they are not thinking about the rights of everyone, but instead
WWII was important because it caused 60 million casualties. Starting in 1939, several countries around the world plunged into the second world war due to the appeasement of Germany, the political powers decisions, and Hitler’s One of the causes of WWII was the appeasement of Germany. In document 8, it states, “ Also the ‘appeasers’ feared that the defeat of Germany would be followed by a Russian
The Holocaust was a horrific part of Jewish history. With time the Jewish population was able to recover from this devastating event through the creation of Israel. Israel was established with the intention of being able to perform self defense against further attacks. The study of the Holocaust and the study of the state of Israel are directly related because the Holocaust led to the development of present day Israel, Israel is a symbol of the growth of the Jewish people since the Holocaust, Israel is a strong and successful nation only because of the development of its people that took place during the events of the Holocaust. Israel's development into its present state was inspired by the Jews that endured the Holocaust and didn't
World War II started on September 1, 1939 and ended on September 2, 1945. World War II was the most destructive conflict in history. Similar to the first World War, World War II was a dispute between powers and or countries and involved the death of million of civilians and militants of those disputing countries. Reminding that the Universal Declaration of Human Rights in 1948 did not fulfill the request from the Islamic countries, Stressing the fact that the sacred Islamic Sharia Laws must be taken into account and deeply respected by all nations, Recognising the different forms of Modern-day slavery that are not valid in the Islamic Sharia laws, Noting with deep concern that domestic violence is an issue to be prevented in many nations, Bearing in mind that some forms of slavery should not be abolished as that would violate the Islamic Sharia Laws, Believing that the CDHRI should once again be reconsidered, Calls upon the UN to amalgamate the Islamic Sharia Laws and the UDHR for reasons stated in the quran such as but not limited to: apostasy
The Balfour Declaration of 1917 is the underlying root of the Palestinian- Israeli conflict. Since 1948 both the Palestinians and Israelis have been in conflict over land and religion. The Palestinians fight for what was theirs and the Israelis fight for what they believe was theirs since the beginning of time. Today a 700 kilometer board wall separates the two parties, however that doesn't stop them from trying to get what they want. Because Palestinians and Israelis are passionate about what they want they both cannot simultaneously be ideally satisfied, thats why there still isn't a resolution .
Moreover, the implementation of human rights protection has been inefficient and should be abandoned, according to some. Many cite the UN as having failed to implement their basic human rights goals, thus creating a failing organization. The topic of the argument is that the UDHR was formed in wake of Hitler’s Germany, as a way to prevent future genocides. Almost all of the concepts, rules, and approved conventions focus on the individual persons but do not account for the collective persons, which was the charter’s original main goal. The Genocide Convention, however does prescribe the protection of human groups, but focuses only on punishment, not prevention.
Well, the Holocaust was an important event because it almost eradicated the whole European Jewish population and many other groups in Europe. This event also showed how cruel humanity can be, what some people are capable of doing in order to gain and maintain power. This event is what caused the UN to make the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The United Nations established the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) in December 10, 1948 because of the atrocities committed beforehand, like Holocaust, World War 2 and World War 1. They wanted to use the UDHR to try and establish the rights that every human has to make sure that they are never violated.
